About Rise for baby and family

Director's Message

I’m proud of all we have built together. Rise comes from a long history of many hearts and minds that believe that our children and families require and deserve supports and services to meet their special needs.

We are fortunate that the State of New Hampshire Developmental Service System made a promise to families many years ago. It was a promise to support families in providing for their babies when they are faced with a special need. It was a promise to promote communities where all people are valued and it was the knowledge that support needs to start at the very beginning. We at Rise have been working to do our part to fulfill this promise to families in the Monadnock region since 1981. While every region of the State has an early supports and services program, there is only one Rise for baby and family.

Our roots are deep in this community. It was parents and physicians that first identified the need. Then came school superintendants and mental health leaders. As the State took the torch, the area agency system including our Monadnock Developmental Services stepped forward. Monadnock United Way and Cheshire County Prevention also stepped forward to help. All the while Rise was steered by an active Board of Directors, composed of business leaders, lawyers, teachers, parents and many others. It has been the board that has grown our informal network of supporters, raising funds and building awareness.

On the front line is the Rise staff, the educators, therapists, care-givers and support staff who have devoted themselves to fulfilling the promise. They have acquired the unique skills that enable them to support the development of infants and toddlers and share their support and knowledge with families. They have built our reputation of excellence.

Finally, there are the parents and family members who have given us the privilege of walking beside them on this wonderful, miraculous, exciting and sometime terrifying journey of parenting. They have not only shared the journey but given us valuable insights on what it means to be in their shoes and what things are more helpful than others.

Our journey to assure that all families can access the supports and services they need continues because we know how important the early years are. We invite you to get to know Rise for baby and family and join with us to continue to build for tomorrow's children.
